Ravenhill Dairy Family History

The Ravenhill family have been dairy farmers since 1925 when William John Thomas Ravenhill & his wife Florence first began farming in Tingledale, WA (near Walpole) and milked their four original Guernsey cows.

The farm quickly grew to become a sustainable dairy, and in 1943 their son, Stan Ravenhill and his wife Barbara took over the farm. They had five children and as a young boy the second youngest, Graham Ravenhill, would help them to milk the cows. Graham finished Agricultural School in 1971 and returned to the farm to help his father and brother Trevor to run the dairy. Graham married Jan and they had 3 sons, Bevan, Rhys & Kenneth.

In 1991, Graham and his family relocated to Narrikup, 30km north of Albany and a portion of the dairy cows were taken to the newly acquired “Moonaralla Farm” from Tingledale. The new farm was originally a beef and sheep farm but was quickly converted into a 10 aside herring-bone dairy and baby beef farm.

Over the next 9 years, Graham and Jan continued to develop the farm while their sons completed their educational studies. All three returned home to work on the family farm with their parents. The expansion of the dairy herd led to the building of a modern 60 stand rotary dairy being completed in 2000.
